Kurátor výstavy Petr Kratochvíl vybral pět desítek českých staveb, pro jejichž autory i klienty bylo vedle primárního hlediska šetrného přístupu k přírodě důležité také kvalitní architektonické řešení. Název výstavy tak neodkazuje ke konkrétním cestám úsporného a ekologického stavění, ale je metaforou dobrého bydlení v souladu s přírodou. Návštěvníci se mohou přesvědčit, že „zelený“ dům nemusí být nutně nudnou stavbou plnou izolace, obalenou solárními panely. Prezentované realizace se vyznačují snahou o symbiózu s krajinou a hledáním využitelných paralel s přírodními tvary a strukturami.

„Hledisko udržitelného rozvoje se ve světové architektuře stále výrazněji prosazuje jako důležité kritérium a vodítko architektonických návrhů. Nedávná mezinárodní konference v Praze „Udržitelná výstavba budov ve střední Evropě“ ukazuje, že se toto povědomí začíná stále více prosazovat také u nás, což dokládá i vítězství takto koncipovaných staveb v posledních ročnících české Grand Prix architektů (Centrum ekologické výchovy Sluňákov mladého ateliéru Projektil, nová radlická Centrála ČSOB studia Josefa Pleskota AP ateliér). Zdá se však, že se v našich poměrech zatím větší pozornost věnuje technickým aspektům ekologicky šetrného stavění (materiály, způsoby vytápění, chlazení, apod.), méně příkladů však najdeme, kdy je toto ekologicko-technické hledisko v rovnováze s kvalitou celkového architektonického řešení, nebo dokonce je inspirací originální architektury.“

The curator of the exhibition, Petr Kratochvíl, chose fifty Czech buildings for whose designers and clients the quality of the architecture was an important factor, in addition to the primary environmental friendliness aspect. Thus the title of the exhibition does not refer to specific ways of designing economical and environmentally-friendly buildings, but is a metaphor for good living in harmony with nature. Visitors can see for themselves that a “green” building does not have to be boring, full of insulation and sheathed in solar panels. The designs on show all characterise an attempt to achieve symbiosis with the landscape and to find utilisable parallels with natural shapes and structures.

“The concept of sustainable development in world architecture is becoming an ever more important criterion and guideline for architectural designs. The recent international conference held in Prague and entitled “The Sustainable Construction of Buildings in Central Europe” shows that this way of thinking is now becoming more deeply rooted in this country too, as shown by the fact that this kind of building has won in the last few years of the Czech Architects’ Grand Prix (the Sluňákov Ecological Education Centre, designed by the recently established Projektil studio, the new ČSOB head office in Radlice, designed by Josef Pleskot’s studio, AP ateliér). However, it seems that here greater attention is focused on the technical aspects of ecologically economical buildings (materials, heating and cooling systems, etc.), and we find fewer cases where this eco-technical factor is balanced by the quality of the overall architectural design, or is even an inspiring piece of original architecture.”

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue, introduced by essays by the author, V. Cílek and J. Tywoniak.
